In order to stimulate the students’ interest of studying and inspire their development, help them meet the change of their roles as college student, facilitate the quality improvement as well as personality development, the School of Public Administration decides to implement the “EYAS EVENT” on those freshmen that lasts a hole year. We are aiming at cultivating outstanding talents with morality, knowledge, capacity and international perspective. The event has been warmly welcomed by the freshmen. By reviewing all these well-organized activities, it’s apparent that they benefited the freshmen on their innovation ability and personality.
The First Character: Contemporary and Sharing
The “Dream Booster Program” of the EYAS EVENT is aimed at realizing the unity of student’s collective value and individual value. The aim of the program is to promote the practice of the core values of Chinese socialism among students. Each class has launched patriotism activities like sharing sessions or class meetings. They highlighted the themes of the times, and spreaded positive energy. They have launched a sharing session called “Learn About Heroes And History” through the “Class Circle” function of “I UIBE”. The session had students shared their heroes and talked about their understanding of the core values of Chinese socialism. Its style was lively and full of passion. It called on the students to remember the call of the times.
We also paid attention to students’ personal development. The quality development activities offered students a platform which helped them get to know each other and show their vitality. Each class shared the movie of “A Beautiful Mind” and “Forrest Gump”. All these movies encouraged the students to discover themselves and share their feelings.
The Second Character: Participation and the Combination of Online and Offline
Since the project has been launched, based on the instructions, each class started the activities in their on way. To improve their moral standard, the students were made to participate in every step of the project. We believe this has improved their thinking, learning, passion and their comprehensive capabilities. Meanwhile, the counselors, class teachers and their assistants also attended the project and offered their instructions to the students.
From the quality-developing activity for freshmen to other educational activities, the “EYAS EVENT” consistently showed the feature of combining online with offline. They used We chat to organize a team, used “I UIBE” to vote and feedback their activities. This kind of combination had a significant payoff.
The Third Character: Intellectual and Speciality
To help these freshmen adapt to university as soon as possible and grasp their own learning methods, our school designed a theory module and solved their learning problems. Before the mid-term examination, we’ve hold many guidance fairs to help them with their learning of advanced mathematics and microeconomics. Students that attended the fairs reviewed their classes efficiently and comprehensively.
At the same time, the event deepened their understanding about different majors of public administrations. We’ve organized seminars for each major. Students form Custom Management visited the museum and enhanced their learning enthusiasm.
The Fourth Character: Unity and Individuation
The event was launched by each class to promote their unity. It emphasized the initiative and leadership of class members. Students from Public Management made autograph albums to record their activities which showed their originality.
Also, the event called for innovation and creativity. Each class voted for their own emblem and all these emblems and slogan showed on “I UIBE” represented their creative spirit.
The Fifth Character: Planning and Assistance
Both serving students and fulfilling their needs are important aims of the event. To meet their demands, teachers and outstanding graduates from different majors shared their experiences. The guidance fair of planning for college life was warmly welcomed by students and received great response.
As a long-term educational project, the event has received initial outcome of improving students’ capabilities. All these mentioned characters were the inheritance of former experience as well as innovation in the new situation. By integrate resources and arouse the enthusiasm of students, we will continue with the event and serve the students better.
