EDITOR’S NOTE: For the practice and the propaganda of the core values of Chinese socialism, based on collage students’ state of mind, school of public administration has hold a series of forums that reached diverse students. We expected the forums as an education platform that improves students’ moral standard as well as connects different classes, thus contributes to our talent development.
March 20, 2015, school of public administration held the first forum of the series event of Elite Cultivation for student union members. Current and former members of the student union, representative of other university organization attended the forum. Lei Liang, the deputy party secretary of school of public administration and Wang Yiran, the secretary of the Youth League Committee attended the discussion.
The forum concentrated on the utilitarian trend of students. It analyzed the phenomenon and reasons deeply, thus came to solutions. It called for the league members to take the lead in order to realize the thought-leading function of the communist youth league.
The forum is a process of analyzing and solving problems. Participants spoke on current problems of student members and brought up their suggestions. They also had a deep discussion on the phenomenon of utilitarian among students.
Based on management theory, participants talked about how to prevent students from utilitarian. They focused on how to improve the attraction and appeal of student union so that to facilitate it’s thought leading function. Li Zhaonan, the former president of student union and deputy secretary thought student union members must keep the unification of thinking. They have to define the values in organization and convey the values to different students. He also regarded that the improving of cohesion was a system engineering.We should develop the top-level design and improve the cohesion through activities. Zhang Chuqiao, the other former president and secretary held the view that it was advisable to adopt a work-shift system so that the members can reap the benefit. Li Jianing, current president and secretary proposed to use some handbooks to record their growth process. Current vice-president of the student union Zhan Han suggested promoting the cooperation between different university organizations. Zhang Jianing used to be a member of university organization, she put forward that we should integrate resources to offer an educational platform to students.
Lei Liang, the deputy party secretary reinforced the necessity of the forum. He thought the student cadres should use the management theory to guide their practice. The student union should build a platform for students and develop more capable student cadres so that they can promote common progress.
The forum lasted nearly three hours and ended up with deep thought. Participants thought it as a good beginning for students to analyze themselves and improve their ideological value. We are expecting the further discussion can bring more highlight.
