SPA Held A Chorus Competition To Memorize The “December 9th Movement”

Toachieve the unity of our country and realize the Chinese dream. December 9th, 2015, school of public administration held a chorus competition to the memory of the “December 9th Movement”. This event was host by communist youth league of UIBE and supported by school of public administration. Teams from eleven different schools showed their youthful vigor and their deepest love to our country by singing those Patriotic songs.

As for the judges, they’ve invited Tao Haofei, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Li Hongquan and Wang Tian from China Conservatory of Music, Zhao Yixuan from Capital Institute Of Physical Education and the former team leader of chorus UIBE.

The opening dance presented by the dance troupe of UIBE was eye-catching. Connected by the exhibition of patriotic poems and some interesting games, the competition can be divided into three parts.

The first part featured “country” as a subject and was presented by four different schools. First came the school of international relations which brought the song called “Heading towards National Renewal”. Then came the business school with “the Song of the Yangtze River”. Their performance felt like the Yangtze River was flowing right before our eyes. Dressed in Chinese tunic suit, the school of foreign studies presented the song called “My Country” and it seemed to bring us back to the history. School of international trade and economics combined the “Oriental Pearl” with video and dance so that to bring us an audio-visual feast.

After the first part, audiences appreciated ten patriotic poems selected from all entries. Combining with music, the poems raised a lot resonance.

Followed was the second part which featured “country” as a subject. Added female solo, school of international studies brought “The Song of Seven Sons”. School of law sang “Sunshine on the Road” in bel canto. School of information technology and management dressed in national dress to sing “Love Our Country” while School of Chinese language and literature brought “There Is No Difference”. They all impressed the audience a lot. After that was a n interesting game of lyrics memorizing. These beautiful songs and familiar melody pushed the event to an exciting climax.

Finally came the third part that featured “citizens” as a subject. The performance from school of insurance and economics was a surprise. The performance from school of banking and finance was also innovative. The school of public administration sang a song called “Under the Bright Sun” with expressive gestures. The audience cheered enthusiastically.

As our special guest, the Red Sail chorus from China Women's University brought a song called “The Moon Represents My Heart”. It was an honored chorus which had won both international and national awards many times. After their performance, the competition came to an end.

It’s our classical event to memorize the “December 9th Movement”. The events were linked to the epochal theme closely and developed through innovation. This year they combined it with the core values of Chinese socialism and calls for students to take responsibilities. The enthusiasm of these teams demonstrating their elegant demeanor. On December 9th, 1935, young students devoted themselves to salvage China from subjugation. Nowadays, students in UIBE inherit their spirit, they practice the core values of Chinese socialism and become socialist successors.
