In order to combine the education of the core values of socialism with quality-oriented education and improve talent cultivation, school of public administration has been holding a series of events called “New Management”. These series events organically bonded theory with practice so that to improve the professional literacy and knowledge level of the students. It worked up the students’ enthusiasm to devote into their professional practice as well as contributed to the cultivation of high-quality talents.
The meeting focused on the summary of work and the combination of knowledge and practice. Delegates from virus student union departments and classes shared their experience. Zhang Fangfang, Doctor from Tsinghua University and the class teacher from school of public administration also attended the meeting.
In the beginning was the first part of the work summary. Based on the theory of organization structure, the art department improved the efficiency and promoted the communication in their preparing work for the cultural show. The sports department illustrated the application of the functional manager theory. Operation department used SWOT model to analysis the competition of psychological knowledge. The public relations department comprehensively applied the theory of interpersonal relations management and Herzberg’s two-factor theory. Their people-oriented personality analyzing measure was widely used in their daily work.
For the question hour, presidents of the student union asked that whether the incentive method or the coercive method should came first in the management of sports team. Han Zhaohui, minister of the sports department though the incentive should be given priority.
Next was the second part of work summary. By demonstrating their working cases, the academic department analyzed the relationship between organize structural optimization and division management. Practice department brought a video of their work which visually showed their daily work. Volunteer group analyzed the management of voluntary activity by giving the example of their support teaching activities.
Zhang Fangfang commented on their presentation. She concluded all those management theories and specially pointed out that management theory could be flexibly used in our daily life such as solving the problems in family and school. She thought the practice of academic department contained the common paradigm of researching which is, to conclude dynamic evolution into theory. Her brilliant views inspired the students a lot.
Followed was the third part of work summary. Propaganda department presented their preparation work for the chorus competition in memory of the “December 9th Movement” and stated the method of managerial communication. Organization department chose the theory of leading and controlling and introduced its virus application. Delegates from different classes explained the application of managing theory in class management. It improved the sense of belonging and ownership.
For this part, Zhang Fangfang advised that the managerial communication theory mentioned by propaganda department should be generalized. Also managing attentively was very important.
At last, Zhang Fangfang concluded the meeting as “nutritious”, she was very rewarding even as a teacher. At the same time, she suggested that student should think more and use their knowledge in practice. Finally she said that the most important thing for college education were thinking and practicing, by keeping the habit of thinking and improving practical activity in internship and public activity, we would attain better student management and bright future.
The meeting enlightened the student cadres by illustrating management theory with student management practice. The series event of “New Management” will be carried on in the future to realize the combination of the core values of socialism withthequality-oriented education. The school will forge their special talent-cultivating pattern to contribute to the cultivation of high-quality talents.
