In order to commemorate “12.9” campaign, foster students’“Youth dream, China dream”, promote patriotic spirit and encourage youths to step up for contemporary duties. Hosted by Youth League of School of Public Administration, Commemorative “12.9”serial event- Outstanding college student village officer forum was held at Forth Hall in Qiu Suo Building from 18:30 November 26th. Representatives of outstanding college village officers: Yanyan Zhao, Shuyan Dong, Bei Sun were invited.
Before the official start, students actively participated in the warm-up giveaway game, after which, participants learned more about policies about college student village officers and rural area.
With the beginning of the forum, host introduced three guests. Yanyan Zhao worked as village officer at Li Ge village, Mi Yun town, having won several awards of “county-level outstanding village officer”. After the expiration of her term of office, she chose to stay at the small village, now she has become vice director of Service Center of Public Affair of Mi Yun, Beijing. Shuyan Dong is acting as assistant of village branch secretary at Village Dong, Shi Li Bao, Mi Yun, while Beilei Sun is serving as assistant of village branch secretary at Village Goudong, Town Yang, Shunyi District. Surrounding career choice and plan, Yanyan Zhao shared her experience.When she graduated, it was the first year of college student village officer selection, owing to her special feelings for rural areas and volunteer experience at Red Cross while in college, she believed that, as a non-profit program, working as a college student village officer is her ideal work, as also meets the need of time. Dong thinks life in rural area is similar to what she had in mind, working condition is also quite satisfying. In the following, Sun shared experience in her job-hunting.
Zhao described her job with “colorful”. In her eyes, college student village officers working at different places have distinguishing work responsibilities, regulations should be the necessary rules to obey. Also, pressing close to people, taking practice in real life makes a big different to be a qualified village officer. The job is multifarious but essential, it influence villagers’ life in every aspect. Dong realized that being a village officer is filled with trivial, but also has toughened her. There are still a lot to learn form predecessors. Sun mentioned some working details, giving a throughout introduction about rural cooperative organization building and sample survey of population.
Three guests also shared their gains from being a village officer. Dong expressed the opinion of standing low, letting go of the big name of your school, keeping feet on the ground. She was deeply touched by villagers’ simpleness and honesty. Zhao mentioned that “Being a village officer toughened , I have grown and learned a lot from my working experience, this is irreplaceable.” Sun thought she has become better at being alone, her biggest harvest was learning how to sank her heart down.
“Be genuine, be reliable”is believed as the key quality to be a village officer by Zhao. She reckoned that being genuine to people, doing a steadfast work, setting a high self standard and believing in “the more you pay, the more you will gain” is her work instructions. Her earnest working attitude received great admire from all the participants. After that, three guests also introduced relevant policies of college student village officer. Their vivid examples and narration led the forum to a climax.
Three guests recalled their college life, and suggest students allocate time wisely, strive for improving study ability, partake in after-school activities actively and plan career future. In the end, students asked how college student village officer bring new energy and positive energy to rural areas. They replied that a lot of outstanding started some entrepreneur programs in the local area, improving villagers’ income and enrich local cultural life.
