Senior ExecutivesFrom Citibank Visited UIBE ToShare Their Occupational Experience

In the evening of October 21st, the activity themed “Youth Forum & The Meeting on Sharing Occupational Experience by Senior Executives from Citigroup” was held in the International Conference Hall located on the third floor of Chengxin Building. Mr. An Ruokang, a senior executive from the department of VIP wealth management of Citigroup, acted as a guest speaker and used his own experiences to show us the requirements on thinking that modern enterprises make for college students. Ms. Yan Wenli, Project Manager of Citigroup, also introduced the project of “Citigroup Elites Practices” and accepted the applications made by the students present here.

The students were quite interested in this activity. One hour before the beginning of this activity, there were some students who successively entered the Hall. Almost at the moment when the lecture began, there were no empty seats in the Conference Hall and in the meantime even many students stood at the aisles of the Hall. All of them were expecting the upcoming meeting on sharing occupational experience by senior executives from Citigroup.

After the brief introduction of the activity made by the host Wang Yu, Mr. Hu Xiaoshuo, a student of UIBE graduating in 2009 and now Project Manager of Citigroup, made a short speech and warmly invited Mr. An Ruokang, the guest speaker of this lecture. Then the students from UIBE carefully listened to the lecture regarding Citigroup and “result-oriented” thinking.

Mr. An Ruokang firstly made a brief introduction of Citibank and then put forward two core ideas of Citibank: one is financial innovation and the other one is teamwork and people being oriented. He made a detailed introduction of the second point. In the meantime, he said that in order to win the recognition from modern enterprises among lots of graduates, contemporary college students should as early as possible develop a pattern of thinking which is result-oriented. By sharing his own experiences of job hunting in early years, Mr. An Ruokang made a deep analysis for the students present here and concluded that a person who is in favor of people-oriented idea is one who tries to seek for solutions when facing any problem, and who will put forward all possible solutions to the problems they are facing and will be able to make a thorough analysis of the solutions. “It is inevitable to feel depressed when facing difficulties. However, it is necessary to seek for solutions after the depression.” This sentence does not only work in the occupational career of Mr. An Ruokang, but also become a pertinent suggestion that he gave to the students present here. In addition, Mr. An Ruokang emphasized that in today’s interview, what the interviewers tend to test is the thinking habit of interviewees. Thus the pattern of thinking which is result-oriented enables the interviewees to succeed among all the others. The result-oriented thinking pattern should be developed consciously in daily life.

The humorous language and vivid cases used by Mr.An tightly attracted the attention of the audiences present here. His lecture was simple but profound, which enabled the students to acquire lots of practical occupational knowledge in a relaxing atmosphere. In the section of raising questions, the students actively put forward the puzzles in their inner world and Mr. An gave detailed answers to all the questions raised by the students. The students drew on occupational wisdom owned by the senior bank executive from the answers to these questions.

Then, with the introduction made by the host, Ms. Yan Wenli, Project Manager of Citigroup went up onto the stage and introduced the project of “Citigroup Elites Practices” for all the audiences. After asking the students present here ages and intentions for going abroad, Ms. Yan made a targeted introduction of the process and significance of the project, and at the same time offered relevant information about the domestic and overseas services that Citibank provides for the students going abroad for receiving further education. In the section of interacting and raising questions, the students who were interested in this project gained more detailed information regarding the project.

In the end of the meeting on experience exchange, the organizer of this activity gave some gifts to the guests and appreciated them for sparing some time to share their occupational experience with the students of UIBE and give some pertinent suggestions. This lecture not only provided the freshmen with planning suggestions for four years but also let the students who were about to graduate draw on occupational experience and wisdom. In this activity, the students do not only feel the historical culture and unique entrepreneurship of Citibank, but also gained relevant opportunity to approach Citibank and deeply feel its culture. It is believed that in the near future, the students from UIBE will make better preparation for their occupational career with more comprehensive self-improvement and more active spiritual outlook.
