At 2pm Oct.17th, Symposium on Culture and Science and Technology Integration and Innovation was held in Room 222 in Cheng Xin Building.
Wang Xi, deputy director of department of science and technology innovation of Beijing State-owned Culture Assets Supervision and Management Office was specially invited to address how to use scientific measures to develop cultural industry. Zhang Shuwu, researcher of Automation Research Institute of China Academy of Sciences gave a speech on mechanism and mode of interaction and integration between culture and science and technology. Wang Ling, secretary of the party committee, department leaders from Scientific Research Department, Publicity Department, Ideology and Politics Department, and Business Chinese Base, and teacher and student representatives from each school attended this symposium.
Secretary of the party committee, Wang Ling first delivered sincere welcome to the two experts. In her speech, she pointed out current social demand of interdisciplinary professionals drove culture and science and technology integration and innovation, and emphasized the importance of culture, necessity of talents cultivation, and scarcity of teachers. In addition, based on the situation of cultural and scientific research of UIBE, Secretary Wang proposed higher requirements and long-term outlooks for teachers and students. She hoped to set up a platform for mutual exchanges among experts, teachers, and students through this kind of activity.
Wang Xi indicated that science supported and drove cultural development. Based on the current cultural development status, she enumerated relative policies and measures issued by cultural authorities and elaborated development direction of integration between culture and science and technology, that is to improve government to properly guide “government, industry, university, institute, and user” five-in-one cultural innovation system in which market plays an active role. Besides, she analyzed the impact of integration between culture and science and technology on life and society, such as improving communication effect of cultural products, enhancing content and creation of cultural products, changing people’s cultural life styles, and promoting integration between cultural industry and other industries. Wang Xi proposed culture integrated with science and technology and innovation driving development was an irresistible trend of future development. However, this integration has some problems, which need to be solved from three layers of country, industry, and company. In the end, she expressed belief and wishes for the prospect of UIBE’s scientific research projects.
Zhang Shuwu analyzed from six aspects, the role of technology in cultural development, understanding about integration between culture and science and technology, cognition of modern cultural industry, development mode of niche cultural section, principle of integration between culture and science and technology, and mechanism and mode of technology promoting cultural industry development. He said the most important feature of human civilization development was mutual promotion and integrative development of culture and science and technology. Science and technology helps to optimize traditional cultural industry structure, guide development of emerging cultural industry, and promote integrative development of related industries. Referring to his understanding about integration between culture and science and technology, he believed science and technology guided emerging cultural forms and had profound influence on people, organizations and activities. Thus, we should unify people’s mind, organizations and activities to promote deep integration and interactive development between culture and science and technology. Development of cultural industry should focus more on exploration and utilization of cultural resources. He considered cultural fields like radio and television, press and publications, culture and art, and new network culture all have special ways of existence, and problems in the developing process. For the problems, he believed actual cultural industry in transformation should not blindly pursue output amplifying indicators.
In the interaction session, Wang Qing, the teacher of School of Public Administration and graduate student representatives raised questions about how to develop cultural industry, and establish economy and talent mechanism and university student regurgitation mechanism. The hosts answered these questions deeply and meticulously. Zhang Xiaofeng, director of propaganda department of school party committee, and Li Jingyu, director of ideology department also expressed their comprehension about cultural and scientific innovation in this session.
The symposium is hosted by School of Public Administration, and presided by Lv Weixia, deputy dean and deputy secretary of party committee of School of Public Administration. Wu Chengzhong, director of MPA Education Centre of School of Public Administration presided over the interaction session.
