To ensure and improve the quality of dissertation writing, graduate students must, under the guidance of their supervisors, select their thesis topics and complete their thesis proposal defense before formally commencing dissertation writing. In accordance with the "University of International Business and Economics Measures for the Management of Graduate Student Thesis Proposal Evaluation (2020 Revision)", the review and evaluation of graduate student thesis proposal defenses for the second half of 2025 is now being conducted. Specific requirements are as follows:

I. Applicable Candidates

PhD: Doctoral students who pass this proposal defense evaluation may apply for their dissertation defense as early as the second half of 2025.

II. Schedule

Please note: Completing and passing the "Degree Application and Academic Integrity Basic Knowledge Assessment" is a necessary prerequisite for submitting the proposal application and conducting the defense. If this has not been completed, applying for the defense is temporarily unavailable.

The review and evaluation of thesis proposal defenses will be organized uniformly by the school, conducted in the form of a proposal defense meeting. Students must defend both the thesis proposal document and the literature review. Both must be passed for the proposal defense to be considered successful.

V. Defense Results and Handling

1.  The result of the thesis proposal defense review is either Pass or Fail.

2.  After the graduate student's proposal defense review concludes, the thesis topic, in principle, should not be changed. Those who change their topic or main content without applying for permission will not be eligible for dissertation defense review of eligibility.

3.  Those who have not undergone the proposal defense, failed the defense, or whose submitted proposal content does not match the content of the final dissertation will not be processed for dissertation defense.

VI. Thesis Proposal Submission Arrangements

After passing the thesis proposal defense evaluation, doctoral students should have the thesis proposal report and literature review bound together (using thermal binding), obtain their supervisor's signature, and submit it to the school's academic affairs office. Simultaneously, they must submit the thesis proposal report electronically via the "Thesis Proposal" module in the [Graduate Comprehensive Management System](http://202.204.172.201/graduate/index.do#act=up/pim/_top). Merge the thesis proposal report and literature review into a single Word file (proposal report first, literature review second) and upload the electronic version.
