To promote the reform of college graduate education and teaching, improve the quality of graduate student development, further enhance the level of college teaching management, School of Public Administration(SPA) 2015 Spring Graduate Student Work Meeting was held at Room 620 in NingYuan Building in the afternoon of June 18th. The following people attended the meeting: Fan Libo, President of SPA, Prof. Wang Shuwen, Prof.Lv Weixia, directors of each department, 10 teachers responsible for professionals and 18 Grade 2015 freshmen of academic master. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Wang Shuwen.

                                              

The first part was Grade 2015 academic master research guidance meeting. Prof. Wang Shuwen said this research guidance meeting was to improve the scientific research ability of the postgraduate students of SPA , provide “development in advance” and “intervention in advance” for those to-be-admitted academic masters, urge them to take full advantage of precious time to participate in academic research before the beginning of the school and gradually realize the role conversion from undergraduate and graduate students. She also introduced the policies that how university and school reward and support academic graduates to publish high quality papers, encourage the attending 18 graduate students to take the initiative to contact the relevant mentor, actively participate in scientific research project from the college teachers, make full use of their summer vacations to improve their ability of scientific research. Head of each departments and directors of each professionals respectively introduced the basic situation of the department and the professional, emphasized the related books to read and professional ability requests, encourage graduate students to contact the teacher through various channels to participate in scientific research activities in advance.

Then, we discussed the developing plan of Grade 2015 foreign graduate students major in Administration in the direction of international economic and trade management during the meeting. Through collective discussion, it was decided that the developing plan of Grade 2015 foreign graduate students would decrease reduce the total credit requirement, cancel compulsory credits section and increase the total number of selective credits. It was believed that the revision of the developing plan would further improve the quality of the developing program for foreign graduate students, ensure the compatibility and coordination with Chinese graduate students training scheme, and also reduce the teaching cost at the same time.

Finally, the attending teachers made a consensus on 2016 Postgraduate Self-Made Entrance Examination Reform and discussed the related work around the evaluation of the qualification of degree granting units.
In general, during this graduate student work conference, each professional teachers urged to express themselves and communicate with each other in a warm atmosphere, reaching a lot of consensus. Through this meeting, SPA further clarified its developing direction and tendency of postgraduate education, bringing fresh air to the graduate student education and training work, which would promote the SPA graduate education and teaching reform to a new step.
