Dean Fan Libo Headed a Team to Beijing Customs for Talents Cultivation Base Issues

On May 8th, 2015, Dean Fan Libo of School of Public Administration led a team to visit Beijing Customs, discussing the development of the outside school talents cultivation base of UIBE with Bai Wenqing, Director of the Education Department of Beijing Customs.

The school has established good relations with Beijing for a long time, especially on the cooperation on internship for students majored in Customs Administration, which has been established since 1997. In February of 2005, both sides signed an agreement on founding an internship base, which set a sound foundation for the long term cooperation.

To further improve the talents training quality and co-cultivation level, Dean Fan and Director Bai had an in-depth discussion on the development methods and development areas of the talents cultivation base. Firstly, Director Bai expressed his welcome to students from UIBE’s Customs Administration major to be interns in Beijing Customs, and said Beijing Customs would like to take full advantage of their business and experiences to help students better employ related theories to solve practical problems. Then, Dean Fan extended his thanks for the long term supports of Beijing Customs for talents cultivation of the school. He also said School of Public Administration would take its own advantages to provide services such as training and consulting for customs institutes and to assist in solving problems of system management and daily operation, so as to constantly strengthen the cooperative relations between Beijing Customs and UIBE.

At last, both sides agreed that the School of Public Administration and Beijing Customs should explore more cooperative projects and areas besides the students internship project. With “new ideas, new elements, and new targets” as the guiding ideology, new talents cultivation systems should be established, including human resource development projects focusing on senior executive exchanges and visiting activities for teachers, training projects focusing on technical training for customs officials, academic discussion projects focusing on case study and students practice projects focusing on holiday investigation research. In this way, cultivation for customs professional talents will be improved to a higher level.

Jia Hongyun, Vice Director of Education Department of Beijing Customs, and Teng Yun and Xu Wei from School of Public Administration of UIBE also attended this meeting.
