The second “Celebrities’ Lecture” for MPA came to a successful end in the golden autumn, October. The lecture was quite brilliant, focusing on transition economies and China's public management and policy under the new normal. The guests are from various fields such as the government departments, famous universities at home and abroad, large state-owned enterprises, world’s top 500 international corporations, and professional consulting agencies. Those knowledgeable and sophisticated guests targeted introduced the releasing process of relevant policies and interpreted the new policies and hot issues, combining with the curriculum content and practical cases, which creates a feast of ideas for students.
Director Libo Fan opened the prelude of this “Celebrities' Lecture” with the theme “Challenges of Economic and Social Transformation”. During the lecture, professor Fan recalled many keywords that have influenced the public social life since the 18th National Congress of the People’s Republic of China, stringing/wiring together his analysis and judgement of China’s economic situation and social development, which passed to MPA students his optimism of China’s economic situation, his fair attitude towards the role of market and the government, and the open perspective on social development and reformation.
Next, Ting He, the chairman and general manager of Beijing Resource Enterprise Management Consulting Service Center, gave his lecture on “Management and Leadership”. At the beginning, Mr. He instantly brightened the traditional classroom by making use of the advanced interactive teaching methods. Based on his personal experience in famous foreign companies and consulting firms, he then had an inspiring exchange with students in an honest and professional attitude.
The Well-known international scholar Hilton Root, professor of the Policy, Government, and International affairs School of George Mason University in the United States, delivered a lecture on “Sino-US trade” for students. Professor Root is an expert in international political economy and development research, with a fruitful of essays and monographs which are translated into different languages to be published. Professor Root has frequently commented on authoritative medias such as the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. He taught students through discussions and explored issues such as health insurance policies and governance in the United States with his own life in the United States as an example. Students actively joined the heated discussion, creating a warm atmosphere.
The topic of the lecture given by Mr. Zhuoming Wang of the National Development and Reform Commission is “Global Thinking Mode and the Current Economic Development.” Mr. Wang had once worked in the Beijing Municipal Committee, the State Council Research Office, and the National Development and Reform Commission, so he had participated in various research projects of national ministries and commissions. Consequently, he is quite familiar with higher education teaching and discipline construction processes, with practical experience in coordinating cultural propaganda work. Besides, Mr. Wang has personally attended the operational procedures and emergency management of several national major events, and has frequently been abroad for a visit with his leaders. His sharing has also benefited numerous students in the civil servant system.
Mr. Yimin Fang, the technical director of Nestle Greater China Co., Ltd., shared with students his feeling and insights of the management of joint ventures in China for international companies. His personal experience in business revealed the cruelness of the business war for students who are still in campus.

Huge amount of information and his logical but rigorous style of speech allowed students to appreciate the elegance of China’s No. 1 metal mining group and gave everyone the confidence for the future reform and development of China’s industry.
The “Celebrities’ Lecture” is a quality column developed by our school to enrich MPA classes. Each lecture has received enthusiastic response from students and has become a typical feature and highlight of MPA classes in our university. Our school will continue to carry out various lectures in this semester to provide an active and high-level platform to make academic and ideological exchanges for teachers and students.
