Dr. Kashubsky, Secretary-General of the International Network of Customs Universities, visited the School of Public Administration

On the afternoon of June 19, 2017, Mr. Dr. Kashubsky, Secretary-General of the International Network of Customs Universities (INCU), visited the School of Public Administration and communicated and exchanged views on the status quo and development prospects of the current international and domestic customs education with the teachers of the Department of Public Administration of the School of Public Administration.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Wei Xu, Director of the Department of Customs Management, introduced the basics of the Department of Public Administration of the School of Public Administration to Mr. Kashubsky, including the historical changes, professional settings, training characteristics of the majors of customs and the overall education of the majors. 

Dr. Kashubsky made a keynote speech

After that, Dr. Kashubsky gave a keynote speech titled “INCU’s Role in International Academic Customs Research and Education & WCO’s Accreditation of Academic Programs”. In the speech, Dr. Kashubsky introduced the relevant information of the INCU organization. The organization, an international non-profit organization, was created to provide an interconnected platform for the World Customs Organization and other universities and research institutes interested in customs research and education. Mr. Kashubsky briefed everyone on the history of the organization and the current members. He described the current role of the organization in customs education and research, and detailed the publications and related training programs of the organization. Besides, Dr. Kashubsky focused on the certification of WCO Professional Standards which is an important development direction of the international customs industry in the future, including the types of certification, basic conditions, certification procedures and different requirements in different stages, which interested the teachers of Director of the Department of Customs Management.  The implementation of international certification has special significance for the Department of Customs Management with a long history.

After the seminar, Libo Fan, the Director of School of Public Administration and Mr. Kashubsky exchanged cordially their views. Mr. Kashubsky presented his own gift with the logo of incu to President Libo Fan. They conducted preliminary exchanges on the cooperation between the School of Public Administration and the Australian Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES) and the INCU, hoping to have further cooperation in the future.
