The 2016 Academic Seminar on Public Administration by the School of Public Administration

The 2016 Second Academic Seminar on Public Administration was held on 3 March by the School of Public Administration. Through the seminar the realization of a faster development of public administration and the stronger academic base were among the chief expectations. The dean Prof. FAN Libo attended the seminar along with members of academic committee, directors of school departments, young teachers and a number of master or doctoral students. Prof. LV Weixia who heads the academic and researches presided over the seminar.


The 2016 Academic Seminar on Public Administration featured openness and internationality, inviting promising and leading young academicians to give speeches. The 2016 Academic Seminar on Public Administration invited five keynote speakers with doctor degree who unanimously came from top-brand universities with overseas studying experiences and trans-disciplinary backgrounds. They shared their latest research outcomes and selected their doctor degree thesis as speech topics. The speakers and their topics are: Tsinghua – Florida State University joint supervised Dr. ZHANG Ke, Politics Competition and Powers Separated Decision Making: Experiences from the Reform on Counties Directly Under Provincial Government Management(《政治竞争与分权决策:来自省直管县改革的证据》); Peking University-University of Chicago joint supervised Dr. LI Qian, The Study on Changes Occurred in Policies Practicing and the Mechanism(《政策扩散中的变异及其发生机理研究》); Tsinghua University- University of California, Berkeley joint supervised Dr. SHI Fei, The New Form of Higher Education and Researches: Taking the MOOC as An Example(高等教育及其研究的新形态:以MOOC学习行为的探索研究为例》); Dr. ZANG Bo form Renmin University, The Incentive Selection and Governmental Reputation in the Public Rental Housing Demands(《公租房供给中的激励选择与政府声誉》);Peking University post-doctor and visiting scholar of Lincoln Institute of Land Policy YAN Yan, Regional Industrial Evolution in China: Path Dependence or Path Creation?. The seminar witnessed splendid speeches of the scholars and Q&A between speakers and audiences.

The School introduced Job Talk at the first time to present its various academic exchanges and activities, gaining great popularity among faculty and students. The innovation provided the faculty and students with a powerful academic platform as well as lightened scholars’ and students’ passion in conducting researches, leading to the realization of the initial purposes of the seminar.
